Does anybody need the 6th epidemic card in Pandemic?
4 epidemic cards in the pile are easy in Pandemic. 5 cards - it is interesting. Our win / lose ratio is about 50% with 5 epidemic cards. But I can't imagine how to play with 6 epidemic cards. Are you just very lucky to win this way, or are there are…

What Are The Official Rules for Carcassonne: The River?
I played a game of Carcassonne last night with some friends, using amongst other expansions, the river.

How quickly does a player have to say "Uno" to avoid drawing extra cards?
I was playing with my fiancée and some friends, and she's adamant that if you can yell Uno before someone who has just played their second to last card, they are required to pick up the penalty amount of cards.
Is this kosher?

Was the blind chess match between Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty in the movie Game of Shadows real/plausible?
I saw the movie and was wowed by two things: the blind chess match in which Holmes wins with the move Bishop-Bishop 8, discovered check; and the mental fist fight they have in their minds. It's such a creative way for two geniuses (genii?) to do…

Where can I find good tile layouts for Settlers of Catan?
I just bought a copy of Settlers, and noticed that there was a suggested starting layout that is included in the Almanac. I noticed it was mentioned online as well:
"new editions of the game also depict a fixed layout in their manual, which has…

Is it legal to buy property for $1 in Monopoly when other players are in prison?
This happened in one of the Monopoly games I had a while ago.
It was a 3-player game. Two players were in prison when the incident occurred. The third player (let's call him Joe) landed on the unowned property in his turn. This is what he said:
I…

Help! I'm A Cylon!
A bit of backstory: I've only played the Battlestar Galactica game twice. The first time I was uproariously drunk, and a bit too delighted at getting to "be" Dr Gaius Baltar; all the inexperienced (and increasingly sloshed) players were humans, and…

How does the double strike mechanic interact with other mechanics like lifelink or trample?
I understand that the double strike mechanic allows a creature to attack in both a first strike combat damage step and a normal combat damage step.
It's clear that when a creature with no other abilities aside from double strike is blocked that even…
