Valves allow air to enter pressurized chambers (such as tires and suspension forks) and remain there. Common bicycle valves include Presta, Schrader, and Woods valves.

Schrader valves are the same type of valves used on automobile tires. They are common on regular bicycle tires in the USA, as well as suspension forks.

Presta valves are commonly found on road bicycles.

Woods valves were once popular for regular bicycles in the UK but have been superseded by schrader valves. Woods valves are still commonly found in bicycles in East Asia, most notably Japan.
