Why do shops within airport terminals scan your boarding card?
Periodically when buying something from an airport shop (in various European terminals), I'll be asked to produce my boarding card to be scanned by staff.
It's not 100% of the time for every purchase, but there doesn't seem to be any logic to it…

What do shops mean when they are open 7/7?
When I have been in mainland Europe, in areas such as France or Belgium, a lot of the shops say they're open "7/7".
The latter 7 presumably means 'every day' like in 24/7, but what about the other 7?
Surely it's not uncommon to be open for 7 hours…
