The Democratic Republic of the Congo (or Congo-Kinshasa) is a country in Africa, formerly known as Zaire. Not to be confused with its neighbor republic-congo (Congo-Brazzaville). Its other neighbors are central-african-republic, south-sudan, uganda, rwanda, burundi, tanzania, zambia and angola. It is almost landlocked, but has a small piece of Atlantic coastline.
DRC is one of the largest and most populated countries in Africa. The official language is French, which is understood by about half the population; Lingala, Kituba, Swahili and Tshiluba are regional trade languages, and over 200 languages are spoken natively. The currency is the Congolese franc (CDF). The capital and largest city is Kinshasa.
