Apollo 11 landed the first humans, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, on the surface of the Moon on July 20, 1969.

Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to the lunar surface. The mission was launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on July 16, 1969. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped on the lunar surface on July 21, 1969, while Michael Collins remained in lunar orbit inside the command module.

The astronauts returned to Earth on July 24, 1969.
