Who am I? Well I'm a photographer, writer and ex-research scientist. I have my own website at www.bobatkins.com/photography, I'm the Technical Editor at Photo.net, I'm a "expert" contributing author at the Adorama Learning center and I run a few other websites such as LensPlay.com where I write all the content and do all the internal database programming.

My career involved working at Bristol University (UK) where I gained a Ph.D, Texas A&M, Yale University and Bell Laboratories, mainly in the areas of Optical Spectroscopy, Optical Diagnostics, Optical Fiber Development and High Temperature Chemistry.

Photographically speaking I shoot mainly with the Canon EOS system (full frame and APS-C), but I also use an Olympus Pen micro four-thirds and various compact digital cameras from Olympus and Canon (currently a G12 and an XZ-2). In the past I've used systems from Nikon, Yashica, Sony, Samsung, HP and probably others that I've now forgotten about.
