The 50d was announced on August 26, 2008. It was subsequently released for sale on October 6, 2008. It has a 15.1 megapixel crop sensor. It has since been replaced in the Canon lineup by the 60d.

Can’t see the picture I’m taking. Screen is black
The screen is black when I turn the camera on. Once I’ve taken the picture, the picture will show up and then the screen will go black again.

What is the Canon 50d made from?
Is the canon 50d primarily made from plastic or from a magnesium-alloy? I have read things that point in either direction. I wasn't able to find anything on Canon's website either. So, does anyone know what it is made from?
