The Wii U is an eighth generation television console by Nintendo that primarily uses a controller with a built-in touchscreen. Use this tag if the question is about Wii U's operating system, hardware, or a game feature made only for the Wii U. DO NOT use for general Wii questions, or questions regarding the original Wii, Wii Family Edition, or the Wii Mini.

The Wii U is an eighth generation console, the sixth console by Nintendo, released on November 18th, 2012, and primarily competes with the Playstation 4.

The main feature of the Wii U is the primary controller, the GamePad, which features a touchscreen, stereo speakers, and various controls. It allows the player to directly control TV functions, and even play games on the Wii U while the TV is being occupied.

The Wii U is compatible with most accessories made for the Wii, including Wii remotes. It does not have direct support for GameCube games, but it does have an accessory which allows one to use GameCube controllers; this was made for use with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
