The first main series games for the 3DS and the first Pokémon versions of the sixth generation

X and Y take place in the Kalos region of the franchise's fictional universe. This region is based on the real-life country of France. The games introduce 69 new Pokemon and the Mega Evolution mechanic.

The player chooses either a Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie as their starter Pokémon from Professor Sycamore.
