Pokémon Shuffle is a Match 3 game for the Nintendo 3DS released in February 2015.

In this game, you are given 5 hearts to begin with and use each heart every time you play a level. These hearts can be replenished by trading in-game currency, jewels, or by purchasing the jewels on the Nintendo eShop, and hearts replenish after time passes. In each stage, you face off against a Pokémon and have to create massive combos to defeat it within the turn limit provided

There are a number of Pokémon to collect in the game, and with the Pokémon captured, you can use them in a squad of four (or three) to help defeat the opponents as they become the Pokémon you need to match up. Some Pokémon in the game can Mega Evolve, only possible when lead in your party, and when they do they unleash massive damage and combos onto the opponent. The Pokémon can all level up.

There are also various items you can collect in the game which will make the game a bit easier such as removing one of your squad from the table or increasing experience gained.

A version for iOS and Android called Pokémon Shuffle Mobile was released in Japan on August 25, 2015, in North America, the United Kingdom, and Australia on September 1, 2015, and in continental Europe and South Korea on January 20, 2016.

How is the rank earned at the end of a level calculated?

I assumed that is was based on score, but then I beat a level in less moves but with a lower score and received a higher rank. If the rank is based on remaining moves, just like the pokemon's catchability, what is the purpose of receiving a score?
