The game takes place on the fictional planet of Eos. The empire of Niflheim has control over all the nations except for the kingdom of Lucis. Noctis Lucis Caelum embarks on a quest to get back his homeland and the magical crystal after it was taken by Niflheim after peace negotiations were made.
