The game was released on April 30, 2013 for PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network and May 1, 2013 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade.

Set in a dystopian 2007, Ubisoft describes the game as "an 80s VHS vision of the future" where the player must "get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world". Earth has been ravaged by nuclear warfare and new paths for peace must be found.

Players will control a 'Mark IV Cyber Commando' named Sergeant Rex 'Power' Colt (Michael Biehn) who must fight an enemy cyborg army known as Omega Force in a world containing 'blood dragons' and mutants.
