BioShock is a first-person shooter by originally conceived by Ken Levine that takes place in the 1960 underwater city of Rapture, a beacon of unfettered capitalism, art and science. The failed city of Rapture, one might say, the residents having gone mad due to repeated self-inflicted gene-splicing.
Players assume the role of "Jack," who is on an airplane crossing the Atlantic Ocean when it unexpectedly crashes. After crashing, Jack proceeds to a lighthouse that was near his crash site to discover a bathysphere that takes him down into the underwater city of Rapture.
