As of the March 2016 Wikipedia entry, Turkish coffee is a method of preparing unfiltered coffee. Roasted and then finely ground coffee beans are simmered (not boiled) in a pot named cezve (optionally with sugar) and served in a cup where the grounds are allowed to settle.

Turkish coffee is an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Turkey confirmed by UNESCO.

This brewing technique is similar to geographically close coffee brewing techniques. Currently, it is found in Eastern Europe, North Africa, the Caucasus, the Balkans, and the Middle East. It may be called Greek, Saudi, Arabic, Jordanian, Cypriot, Bosnian, Syrian coffee.

Turkish coffee is the de facto name for this brewing technique as the Western World's historical encounter with coffee starts with the Ottoman Empire.
