Launchpad is a feature introduced in Mac OS X Lion based on the iOS springboard. A collection of application icons and folders is accessed either by clicking an icon in the dock or by pressing a specific key on newer Macs/Apple Keyboards. Applications can be launched with a click.
Launchpad behaves similarly to the App Library (and SpringBoard) on iOS and iPadOS devices. With Launchpad, users can swipe between pages of icons, click to launch the applications they represent, hold an icon to activate jiggle-edit mode, or arrange applications into folders.
