Atlanta/South

South Atlanta is a district in Atlanta that contains the Grant Park, Peoplestown, Lakewood Heights, and Mechanicsville neighborhoods, and is near the world's busiest airport.

South Atlanta contains the neighborhoods:

• 🌍 Grant Park. A historical district in the area. Besides the park itself, this area includes Zoo Atlanta and Cyclorama. 
• 🌍 Mechanicsville. 
• 🌍 Peoplestown. 
• 🌍 Lakewood Heights. 

MARTA East/West Line stops at King Center Station. Interstate 75, Interstate 20, and Freedom Parkway provide access by car.

To get to Grant Park, take MARTA Bus #397 from King Memorial Station. By car, exit from I-20 at Blvd SE.

• 🌍 Cellairis Amphitheatre (Lakewood Amphitheater). Attend a concert or event 
• 🌍 Oakland Cemetery, 48 Oakland Avenue, ☏ +1 404 688-2107. Historic graveyard (established 1850) which is the burial site of Margaret Mitchell, Bobby Jones, and many Civil War soldiers. 
• 🌍 Zoo Atlanta (next to Cyclorama), ☏ +1 404 624-5822. Open every day 9:30AM-4:30PM; Sa Su during daylight savings time 9:30AM-5:30PM; closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. This zoo specializes in primates and African animals but also has Giant Pandas, Bornean Sumatran orangutans, Asian small-clawed otters, and a children's zoo. Adult (12+): $26.70 - $33.45, Child (3-11): $21.20 - $26.70, Senior (65+): $24.70 - $30.95, College Student (Student ID Required): $24.70 - $30.95. 
• 🌍 Starlight Drive-In Theatre and Flea Market, 2000 Moreland Ave SE, ☏ +1 404 627-5786. Drive-in movie theater that also hosts a swap meet every Saturday and Sunday. (updated Jan 2020)

• 🌍 Daddy D'z: The Bar-B-Que Joynt, 264 Memorial Drive, ☏ +1 404 222-0206. M-Th 11AM-10PM, F Sa 11AM-12:30AM, Su noon-9:30PM. Excellent barbecue in a small building with a lot of character. $9-16. 
• 🌍 Ria's Bluebird, 421 Memorial Dr SE, ☏ +1 404 521-3737. 8AM-3PM. Hip breakfast restaurant, voted "best pancakes in world" by NY Times. Come early or be prepared to wait. $5-13. 
• Six Feet Under, 437 Memorial Dr SE Suite #1A, ☏ +1 404-523-6664. Su-Th 11AM-11PM, F-Sa 11AM-Midnight. Seafood restaurant and bar, patio and a descent sized menu. Popular with younger locals, can get busy on the weekends. 
• Zesto, 1181 United Ave SE, ☏ +1 404-622-4254. Here and in Forest Park. Diner with burgers, hot dogs, chicken, and claims to have the best ice cream in the world.
