Berlin-Tegel and Berlin-Schönefeld Airport (sxf) are closed since late 2020 when Berlin Brandenburg Airport (ber) opened for operations; BER was originally scheduled to open in 2011, but has had its opening repeatedly delayed. An older airport, Berlin-Tempelhof (THF), was closed in 2008.
Berlin-Tegel was the main hub of germanwings and air-berlin. The hexagonal main terminal building houses two concourses, labeled Terminal A and Terminal B. Terminal C and Terminals D/E are connected airside via walkways.
The now closed airport is located in the northwestern district of Reinickendorf, roughly 15km (9.3mi) from Alexanderplatz in the city centre. There are no direct rail connections. The main access road is Autobahn 111, and the BVG operates bus services connecting the airport to S-Bahn, U-Bahn, and intercity train stations.
